Project Info

For what is probably the most famous cake in the world, the Sacher Torte, an ambience was created that reflects the high quality and tradition of the establishment. The Sacher Eck, now Café Bel Étage, was extensively redesigned in close collaboration with BWM Architekten. The challenge: to create a luxurious atmosphere in a small space that both preserves the charm of the Sacher and meets modern requirements.

Enjoyment in imperial flair

Paradise for connoisseurs

Craftsmanship for an iconic coffee house

High-quality materials such as red velvet, brass and marble were processed with the highest precision to underline Sacher's iconic color scheme. The two-storey chandelier by designer Megumi Ito sets a monumental accent, while an elegant oak staircase with a red runner opens up the Bel Étage. The tight time frame required the highest level of craftsmanship and precise coordination of all trades. The result is an unmistakable place where Viennese coffee house culture and timeless elegance blend harmoniously.
