Project Info

An inconspicuous outbuilding on a farm has been transformed into a distinctive property that combines old and new elements in a unique way. Removing the ceilings and adopting an open-plan layout gave the house a loft-like feel, while retaining the distinctive brick façade. At its centre, a flexible cube connects the different levels and functions, from the restroom to the kitchen and office. High-quality materials such as stone and wood meet an industrial style to create a harmonious blend of art and architecture.

Vineyards & Loft: An Outbuilding Reinterpreted

The exposed roof trusses, bearing historical inscriptions, provide a striking contrast to the pared-back black oak cubes, the Alpine marble in the kitchen and bathrooms, and the clean lines of the concrete flooring. Large window frames offer views of the nearby vineyards while providing ample space for art and vintage furniture. The contrast between urbanity and rural surroundings lends the conversion a special tension.
