Project Info

A café by day, a bar by night, and a lively meeting place for art, culture and cuisine in between. In the middle of Vienna's second district, Café Kraus was transformed into a versatile space that combines gastronomy with event culture. In cooperation with archiguards ZT GmbH and DI Gerd Zehetner, a flexible concept was created that seamlessly blends daytime and night-time operations through clever design.

Scenery with character

The mix of fine materials such as brass, corian and stainless steel gives the bar an elegant yet functional
presence. A sliding bar rack showcases culinary treasures during the day, while in the evening, a curated
selection of spirits is dramatically staged in front of a matte black wall. A custom-made bench with quilted
upholstery, mirror and glass details as well as a sophisticated lighting scheme create atmosphere and invite
guests to linger. The adjoining salon, with high-quality furniture by Wittmann, offers an intimate retreat, while
the Éva Kahán Foundation's art room forms the artistic antithesis, a microcosm for all the senses.
