Chambre d'amis by Seliger/Josef Göbel Home brings together art and bespoke interiors. For spaces with that certain something and collectors with perspective.
At Seliger/Josef Göbel Home, bespoke living is clearly more than just furniture, textiles, and accessories. For the in-house event series Chambres d’amis, the concept store transforms into a unique exhibition space—a place where carefully selected art finds its natural home in specially designed interiors. While not a traditional gallery, Chambres d’amis offers a special ambiance for one-of-a-kind art pieces, each carefully curated to suit the space.
The concept takes inspiration from the legendary curator Jan Hoet's Chambres d’amis project, which he developed in the 1980s. For six years, Hoet curated an exhibition in which art was displayed in 50 private homes across Ghent, Belgium. The works were specially created by artists for the designated spaces, blending seamlessly into their environments.
Although the approach in Gersthof does not go as far as Hoet’s project, Chambres d’amis still brings together bespoke interiors and carefully chosen art. Art consultant Lucia Hudovernik selects both artists and pieces specifically for each event, ensuring that the works not only enhance the spaces but also have potential market value. After all, for the buyers, these pieces are not just decoration but investments.
Tailored to Your Taste
When it comes to art, the saying “It has to be to your taste” holds true. However, art’s value is not just ideological—it also holds future potential. To navigate this delicate balance and ensure the right fit for both the space and the buyer, Josef Göbel collaborates with Lucia Hudovernik, even beyond Chambre d’amis. For those who are art enthusiasts but lack market experience, they provide a one-stop solution: bespoke interiors paired with handpicked artworks from rising creative talents. Tailored to the space, personal taste, and budget, these offerings make it possible to enrich a living room, library, or salon with works that speak both to the aesthetic and financial sensibilities of the buyer.
And unlike the original 1986 Belgian concept, preparations for each Chambre d’amis collection take far less time—ensuring a more timely and personalized experience.
